Duke of Edinburgh Training

This week, Darren, Duke of Edinburgh Manager and Adventure Lead for Outcomes First Group, visited Chestnut Hill School to deliver expedition training for our DofE bronze pupils. He delivered 2 days of training to prepare our pupils for the upcoming expedition in May.

Pupils learned to read a map, plan routes, and went to Conwy for an orienteering activity to practice their skills in a real-life environment.

We also practiced putting up our tents, looked at different cooking systems and created a meal plan to help fuel us for our hikes.

We even managed to fit in some first aid considerations and thought about hazards that we may come up against during the expedition.

A very busy, informative and fun start to the week. A huge Da Iawn to the pupils for their hard work!
